Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is not going to keep Wade Phillips dangling when the season ends. He expects to have a decision on Phillips' future within a day or two of the end of the season, Jones said Tuesday.
"It's not something I wanted to talk about a month ago when the issue was more about changing [coaches]," Jones said. "That was kind of the tenor, or where the energy was. I didn't talk about it then. I don't want to talk about it now. What I have said is, just to give you insight into some logic or some of the thinking that's going on, it's not as though you have technical work to do here. Something is in place."
Jones is referring to the option the Cowboys hold on Phillips' contract. Phillips is in the final year of a three-year deal, but the Cowboys have an option for a fourth season.
