Brett Favre wants to clear up something: He didn't guarantee a victory over the Dallas Cowboys.

The Vikings quarterback is aware how his words can be interpreted as bulletin board material, even if he had no intention of making a bold statement. His optimism and line of positive thinking can be taken out of context.

On Wednesday, Favre said it would be a shock if he wasn't holding his weekly news conference with the media next Wednesday. Television reports locally and on NFL Network left room for interpretation but suggested Favre was all but guaranteeing victory. Profootballtalk.com got in the mix, too, with a headline that stated Favre made "an indirect guarantee."

"Well, first of all, I'm not guaranteeing anything, and the last thing I ever want to do is be bulletin board material," Favre said. "Of course, I gave the Cowboys a ton of respect, as they deserve. They are playing outstanding. That's not B.S. They are playing, and I'm speaking NFC, as well if not the best, maybe in the league. San Diego, obviously, would argue that. But I was not guaranteeing."
