IDP Waiver Wire: Week 6 Pickups and Matchup Plays
Bye weeks are upon us, so more and more defenders will be unavailable to us in the coming weeks. In Week 6, we'll be without Jarrad Davis, Quandre Diggs, Demario Davis and Cameron Jordan just to name a few. Injuries continue to mount, so as we head into Week 6, let's take a look at the defensive players we're targeting to plug in the gaps.
Week 6 IDP Waiver Wire
Defensive Back
Justin Simmons, SS, Denver Broncos (62 snaps/100-percent)
Simmons has played all over the field for the Broncos' defense. More importantly, he's playing up near the line of scrimmage more, recording 188 defensive snaps from there. He's posted double-digit fantasy points in all five games this season, producing a 9.4 percent tackle rate.
Jordan Richard, SS, Atlanta Falcons (47 snaps/77-percent)
If you missed out on Damontae Kazee, Richard is starting to get some playing time. He appeared in 47 snaps in Week 5, with 44 of them near the line of scrimmage. He actually ended up leading the Falcons in tackles with seven (14.9 percent tackle rate). If you're in a deeper league where you're battling injuries and bye weeks, he's worth taking a flier on for bench depth.
Mike Adams, SS, Carolina Panthers (56 snaps/100-percent)
This guy is age-less it seems. If you missed out on Eric Reid, you might want to consider Adams. He played 100 percent of the snaps in Week 5 and has appeared in 249 snaps this season. Coming off the bye, Adams notched six tackles and recorded two INTs. He's playing near the line of scrimmage, where 18 of those snaps came in the box and 11 in the slot. If the Panthers' safety is going to be playing nearly 60 percent of his snaps up near the line, he'll definitely have tackle and big play opportunities.
