IDP Waiver Wire: Week 8 Pickups and Matchup Plays

It was another brutal week, as we lost another elite IDP for the year. This time, Kwon Alexander. I have my thoughts on who to replace him with below. It's another week where we have four teams on a bye and a game in London. We won't have IDPs from the Falcons, Cowboys, Chargers or Titans to choose from, so you might need to navigate the wire to fill in the holes. Below, are my waiver wire targets and matchup plays for Week 8.

Week 8 IDP Waiver Wire

Defensive Back

Damarious Randall, FS, Cleveland Browns (93 snaps/98-percent)

The Browns used Randall effectively against the Buccaneers, and if this trend continues to where he helps cover a top receiver, his IDP value should continue to rise. He covered Mike Evans and was thrown at seven times. He also helped out in coverage on Chris Godwin. Randall has produced 11 or more fantasy points in all but one game this season, and is recording 0.20 points per snap and an 8.7 percent tackle rate over 527 defensive snaps.

Jessie Bates, SS, Cincinnati Bengals (70 snaps/100-percent)

Bates has produced double-digit fantasy points in all seven games this season and he had just one with fewer than 12 points. He plays most of his snaps as their center-fielder, and although he's only been targeted 22 times, he's putting himself in position to make tackles. The rookie safety has already recorded 53 tackles and a 10.6 percent tackle rate.

Eric Reid, SS/FS, Carolina Panthers (55 snaps/82-percent)

Reid is starting to get acclimated with the Panthers defense. He's appeared in at least 83 percent of the snaps and is playing all over the field for the defense. He's playing around 43 percent of his snaps up near the line of scrimmage and the rest manning the free safety spot. Against the Eagles, he recorded a season-high eight tackles and 13.8 percent tackle rate. Reid is a big hitter and really fits in with the Panther defense - aggressive and will take on contact.
