WR Devery Henderson reportedly underwent sports hernia surgery on May 6. The surgery surfaced when Henderson was unable to attend an awards program recognizing scholarships he helps fund in St. Landry Parish, according to The Daily World.
Henderson could not immediately be reached for comment and the Saints offered no immediate confirmation of the affliction. However when it emerged last week that offensive tackle Jon Stinchcomb had also undergone sports hernia surgery in this offeseason the Saints also declined any comment.
The injury, which used to be called a 'groin pull,' has hit the Saints hard. In the past two years, six other Saints have had the same surgery performed at a Philadelphia clinic.
If the reports are accurate, neither Stinchcomb nor Henderson should miss any preseason camp time. Camp is slated to begin on July 29 and the normal recovery time from the procedure is 3-4 weeks.
