5 Undervalued Dynasty Rookies
DynastyLeagueFootball.com does tremendous work and their Average Draft Position tool is a phenomenal resource for all dynasty league players. By using that data as a guide, below are five rookies that, by consensus, are being drafted too low. Jump all over these guys for your dynasty squad and thank us later.
Ryquell Armstead, Jaguars (Consensus 34th overall)
Armstead isn’t a special running back or talent. He is tough and runs hard with much better speed than you might guess. Armstead is a no-nonsense running back. But as is the case with the majority of this incoming running back class, the key for each prospect (more than in most years) is their landing spot. Armstead landed in the perfect spot for him in Jacksonville. Not only is Leonard Fournette very difficult to bank on week after week with his ailing ankles, but Armstead brings to the table what this organization seems to covet in terms of running style. Being Fournette’s handcuff and a good system fit is worth way more than a very late pick in the third round of rookie drafts. Grab Armstead at the beginning of Round 3 or even late in the second round. In this case, his landing spot in Jacksonville is the whole key. Only a sixth-round pick, Armstead should beat out Alfred Blue, Thomas Rawls and Benny Cunningham in no time and it is unclear if Jacksonville will even pick up Fournette’s option year after this season concludes.
Jace Sternberger, Packers (Consensus 27st overall)
While the overvalued article highly advised against targeting tight ends in your rookie draft, Sternberger is the guy at this position to attack in your rookie draft, especially if they are just giving him away in the early third round. Sternberger is a tremendous and vastly underrated prospect in the Travis Kelce mold. He can threaten the defense at every level, brings toughness and competitiveness to his new team and isn’t a liability blocking. Sternberger’s tape this past year at Texas A&M was very strong. While that is terrific, the key here is Sternberger’s situation.
Not only does he get to play with Aaron Rodgers, but also Green Bay didn’t do all that much this offseason to give Rodgers more weapons to throw to. And if you think Jimmy Graham is an obstacle to Sternberger, you need to go back and watch Graham’s recent tape. He runs like a dad. Plus, Graham is unlikely to be back in Green Bay in 2020. For whatever reason, the dynasty community hasn’t caught on yet, but this is the lowest Sternberger’s stock will ever be. Scoop up Sternberger in the middle of the second round before anyone else has the chance and trade up to do so if you must. Sternberger should be your number one target rookie at his current ADP.
