IDP Matchups & Sleepers: Week 4

Each week, I'm going to go through our IDP rankings and look at some of the top matchups and sleeper picks for the week at each position. My IDP brother-in-arms, Ross Miles, will have your IDP waiver wire covered. Now, let's see what Week 4 has in store for us.

Linebacker

KJ Wright, OLB, Seattle Seahawks vs.Arizona Cardinals

Opposing OLBs have been productive against the Cardinals early on. After totaling 13 tackles in the first two weeks, Wright recorded 13 tackles in Week 3, resulting in a 22.8% tackle rate. Wright stays on the field and should be busy with David Johnson. Through three weeks, the Cardinal are allowing 11 solo tackles to the OLB position.

Quincy Williams, OLB, Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Denver Broncos

In two of the last three weeks, Myles Jack has either been thrown out or suffered an injury. It's opening plenty of tackle opportunities for Quincy Williams. Williams is playing enough snaps to warrant playing as an LB3 and is recording a 10.6% tackle rate. He has consecutive games of at least eight tackles. The Denver offense is yielding 17 solo tackles per game to the LB position this season.

Roquan Smith, ILB, Chicago Bears vs. Minnesota Vikings

Smith is coming off a two solo tackle game against the Redskins, but is still recording an 11.1% tackle rate over 214 defensive snaps. The Vikings are allowing 14 solo tackles per game to opposing LBs. In Week 2 against a 3-4 defense, the Vikings yielded 13 tackles (10 solos) to Blake Martinez. I think Roquan bounces back against the Dalvin Cook and the Vikings this week.

Joe Schobert, ILB, Cleveland Browns vs. Baltimore Ravens

Schobert should be in your lineup this week against Baltimore. In 193 defensive snaps, Schobert is recording a 14.5% tackle rate and has been solid for the Cleveland defense. I really like the matchup Baltimore presents for Schobert. He's going to be busy tracking Mark Ingram and Mark Andrews. Opposing ILBs are averaging 10 solo tackles per game against Baltimore. Last season, Schobert averaged 11 tackles per game against these Ravens.

Sleeper

Whitney Mercilus, Houston Texans vs. Carolina Panthers

I like Mercilus as a big play special this week. Although Mercilus is generating a pressure rate just under 8%, he's converted 40% of his pressures into sacks. Mercilus should line up on Daryl Williams's side of the field. Williams has already allowed five sacks and 13 total pressures on 117 pass-block snaps.
