Streaming Tight Ends: Week 6 Targets
Tight end has become a bizarre game show where the answers change rapidly from game to game but guessing right can actually pay off. To top it off, this week we have four teams who get to chill from their couches—Bills, Bears, Colts and Raiders.
As a strategy, streaming aims to find players with above-average matchups, which can hopefully translate to TE1 production for your fantasy squad.
For streaming purposes, 4for4’s Schedule-Adjusted Fantasy Points Allowed (aFPA) is a metric we rely heavily on to determine weekly matchup strength. As the season continues to progress and more data is available, aFPA becomes more and more reliable, using rolling 10-week data. Targets and efficiency metrics are also considered when choosing weekly streamers.

Gerald Everett was my streaming star in Week 5, coming in as the fantasy TE2 on the week with an impressive 20.6 PPR points, followed by James O’Shaughnessy’s 8.70 at TE12. Our goal in all this is starting tight end results. After four weeks, 4for4’s optimal streamer has scored 70.9 PPR points, which equates to TE7 numbers on the season.
In order to provide advice you can actually implement, candidates for streaming must be owned in no more than 40% of Yahoo! fantasy leagues.

Chris Herndon (Jets) vs. Cowboys
It’s finally Herndon season and I am here for it. As a rookie, he finished as the TE16 in PPR points and TE17 in total targets. He and fellow second-year QB Sam Darnold showed productive chemistry, which they’ll hopefully carry over into 2019. Both guys could be back in Week 6, but either way, Herndon should see plenty of action in this so-far anemic New York offense.
The Jets get a home tilt against Dallas, who rank 28th in TE aFPA thus far, so it’s a great week for the tight end to return from suspension. Coach Adam Gase says he’s going to wait to activate Herndon based on practice performance, but that could just be coach speak. At just 29% rostership in Yahoo! leagues, grab Herndon now before he’s no longer streaming eligible.
UPDATE: Herndon is currently questionable with a hamstring injury so monitor his status as the week progresses.
