Colts WR T.Y. Hilton will miss three weeks with a calf injury, head coach Frank Reich said on Friday.
The injury occurred during practice Wednesday. Hilton will miss games against the Steelers, Dolphins and Jaguars. The Colts play a Thursday night game against the Texans in Week 12, so it will be interesting to see if he returns then, on a short week, or if the team waits until Week 13 against the Titans.
Here's the spin from our John Paulsen:
"Hilton is expected to miss 3-4 weeks, so this is a big blow to the Colts and to Jacoby Brissett. When Hilton missed Week 4, here is how the routes broke down among the Colts' receivers (per PFF): Deon Cain (42), Chester Rogers (42), Zach Pascal (38), Jack Doyle (33), Parris Campbell (32) and Eric Ebron (22). Campbell and Doyle led the way with 8 targets apiece, Pascal saw 7, Rogers and Nyheim Hines had 6, while Ebron and Cain saw 5. Cain was a healthy scratch in Week 8, so it seems that he has fallen down the depth chart. Pascal, Rogers and Campbell seem like the best bets for snaps and targets at receiver, while both Doyle and Ebron would see a bump as well. Devin Funchess can come off IR next week so he could quickly assume a WR1-type role if he's fully healthy."
