7 Sleepers to Target in NFL.com Fantasy Leagues

The term "sleeper" is a bit overused in fantasy circles. This is especially true considering this industry is so oversaturated with analysis, there really aren't any true sleepers left. A better way to approach the idea is looking for value in drafts when ADP doesn't match with a player's potential. Fortunately for you, we have a tool designed to do just that: The ADP Bargains tool. Using this tool, I've highlighted several sleepers on each major site, with the NFL.com lot below. I try to highlight different players in each piece, so even if your league isn't hosted on one of the other sites it'll still be worthwhile to see who I've highlighted. And don't forget to use the ADP Bargains tool often, as ADP will continue to shift as the season approaches.

QB Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions

Normally I hate “on pace” statistics, as NFL seasons are far from static, but holy cow was Stafford “on pace” for a ridiculous season in 2019. He threw for just shy of 2,500 yards with 19 touchdowns and five interceptions in only eight games, meaning had he kept that up for another eight he’d have finished with nearly 5,000 yards and 38 touchdowns. His 21.45 fantasy points per game average trailed only Lamar Jackson, Deshaun Watson, and Dak Prescott last season. Unfortunately, a back injury ended his season prematurely and gave us eight games with Jeff Driskel and David Blough.

The good news is that Stafford is healthy for the 2020 season, and his Covid-19 test was actually a false positive. Stafford is coming off the board in NFL.com drafts after pick 150, making him a steal to target as a late-round quarterback. Stafford has a cannon arm, and a talented core of playmakers around him (more on a few of them in a bit), so there’s little reason to expect a significant drop off in production. While 5,000 yards and 40 touchdowns might be a bit much, a top-10 finish among quarterbacks is well within Stafford’s reach.

RB Jonathan Taylor, Indianapolis Colts

The big fantasy question in Indianapolis is how long Marlon Mack will be able to keep Taylor at bay. The Colts invested a second-round pick in Taylor, and for good reason. The former Badger amassed over 6,000 yards in his three-year collegiate career, setting an NCAA record for the most 200-yard games (12) scored 53 times while at Wisconsin. Taylor scorched the combine with a 4.39-second 40-yard dash, and at 5’10” and 226 pounds, he’s built like a workhorse with scatback speed. While there is the specter of a dreaded RBBC lurking in Indianapolis with Mack and Nyheim Hines, Taylor’s upside is immense if he steals more of the lead back workload—and he has the talent and ability to do just that. His ADP is frighteningly low on NFL.com currently, well past pick 100, so if you’re drafting on that platform soon try to take advantage of this glaring disparity.
