10 August ADP Risers & Fallers

Finding any edge when it comes to drafting is something all fantasy managers are after. One of the most popular measurable ways to track how each player is being perceived is by their Average Draft Position (ADP).

As we enter redraft league frenzy season, when the majority of your home or friends and family drafts take place, analyzing BB10 ADP from week-to-week is helpful to gather an overall impression of when players are leaving draft boards. Drafters of BB10 best-ball leagues tend to be sharper than your average fantasy football participant, so you may find players will slip a bit further in some leagues than others.

In other words, ADP data is very useful but is not everything, so don’t ride or die with it.

In the first piece in this series, I’ll take a look at some of the biggest risers and fallers over the past few weeks, comparing their ADP from the last two weeks to the two weeks before that and how you should approach them moving forward. A player’s ADP can change for a plethora of reasons and diving into the cause of that movement can certainly help come draft time.

Biggest Risers

Adrian Peterson - RB, Football Team (+37.5 ADP, +11 POS ADP)

No, this is not a player blurb from 2015. Adrian Peterson’s upward trajectory is courtesy of Derrius Guice’s release from the team on August 7th, which has left Peterson as the lone veteran in a backfield comprised of rookies Antonio Gibson and Bryce Love. Oh, and Peyton Barber is there, too. Peterson figures to be the Week 1 starter and he could hold onto the early-down work for most of the season, depending on how quickly Love can catch on to the NFL. It would seem that Gibson should be used for more of a passing-down role but it could certainly develop into more.

Peterson has blazed up from a 16th-round pick to the 13th and improved his positional ADP from RB63 to RB52. Barring any more injuries to this backfield, this should probably be as high as we’ll see Peterson’s ADP go in 2020.
