The Jets waived quarterback Kevin O'Connell, the team announced today.
O'Connell, a former third-round pick of the Patriots, was the fourth quarterback on the roster behind Mark Sanchez, Mark Brunell and Kellen Clemens.
Monday, coach Rex Ryan said Clemens had a "pretty strong chance" of making the team.
Today, Clemens solidified his spot on the roster by taking a pay cut, signing a one-year deal for less money than the $1.176-million tender he signed this offseason.
