Wade Phillips won’t spend the next 10 days worrying about his quarterback.
Tony Romo’s focus is on getting ready for the Washington Redskins. He’ll watch the preseason finale from the sidelines.
“I see our quarterback coming on and I think he’s going to be ready,” Phillips said. “I don’t know that Tony tore up last year in the preseason, but he threw for 353 yards in the first game.”
Actually, Romo was pretty sharp last preseason. He completed 24 of 31 passes for 232 yards and a touchdown with one interception. He wasn’t sacked.
He hasn’t been nearly as productive or well protected this preseason. The numbers, with one extra game: 26-of-46 for 287 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. He’s been sacked five times.
Don't panic on Romo. It's just the pre-season, and the Cowboys have been playing down a couple of offensive linemen and running a strictly vanilla game-plan. Romo will be ready come week 1 and is a top 5 QB.
