Streaming Quarterbacks: Week 5 Targets

We’re a month into the season and I feel like I know less. Well, somewhat. It’s partially due to teams already having to make significant adjustments to their situations. The entire AFC South is a mess with injured quarterbacks or pass catchers. The Chiefs find themselves towards the bottom of the rankings. New Orleans' passing game is untouchable. Teams are evolving each week and we’re all trying to catch up to make lineup decisions. Luckily, we’ve got a solid process here to find some streaming quarterbacks. Let’s recap Week 4 and dive into some options you should be able to find on your waiver wire for Week 5.

Week 4 Results

I usually get nervous once the games start on Sundays. As if I put too much weight on a stat or completely overlooked a possible streamer. I didn’t feel that way this past Sunday. The recommendations just made sense. The process emphasized there weren’t many options, but the few available were great. I’m just glad the results agreed with me.

As we all know, Sam Darnold is Lamar Jackson with a cheaper price tag. I’m kidding. Nobody knew that. Sam Darnold probably didn’t see this coming and he’s the one averaging a rushing touchdown per game. We’ll take the results, though. The offense is flowing through D.J. Moore and the main question is when Christian McCaffrey will return. Carolina has another solid matchup at home so I’ll talk about Darnold again shortly. Let’s take a look at the other recommendations from last week.

The WAS/ATL game featured two top-12 teams in neutral pace with secondaries in the Bottom 5 in EPA per dropback allowed. It created the perfect environment for both sides but Heinicke was the obvious beneficiary. Atlanta’s blitz-heavy approach led to multiple scrambles from Heinicke boosting his fantasy total on top of the 3 touchdowns. Washington’s defense will likely put him in similar situations moving forward which will keep him in the streaming conversation in the future.
