2021 RSM Classic: Round 3 Matchups

Gusting 25 MPH winds off the Atlantic coast were no match for Talor Gooch during Friday's second round of the RSM Classic. On a day when players struggled to shoot under par, Gooch battled the elements and followed up his 8-under first-round score with an equally impressive 5-under par second round. With his play trending upwards since the start of the new season, Gooch hasn't missed a cut in six starts and has finished 11th or better four times. The wind was definitely the story of the day, as scoring was so tough compared to Thursday that it appeared as if players were on completely different courses. Both the Seaside and the Plantation courses each finished the day playing around four shots tougher than during the opening round. John Huh also shot 5-under for the round, and he sits in second place with first-round leader Sebastian Munoz at 12-under for the tournament. Closing out the top-five are Mackenzie Hughes and Taylor Moore at 11-under. We hit two of our top matchups yesterday by focusing on players who hold an advantage in windy conditions. With the forecast calling for more of the same during Saturday's round, the smart play will be again to target golfers who rate high in the wind.
