2022 Sony Open Round 2 Betting & Showdown Picks
Defending champion, Kevin Na, returned to Waialae Country Club and shot a 9-under par 61 in his opening round to take the early lead at the Sony Open. His ball-striking was outstanding, gaining 5.9 strokes on the field. After his round, Na remarked:
"I did everything well today and my iron play was amazing. And I tell you what, I had a chance for a 59. I gave it all I could. I'm a little disappointed my putts didn't fall, some of the good putts that I hit didn't fall. But it's still a good round."
Russell Henley and 51-year-old veteran, Jim Furyk are one shot behind Na. They are followed by a host of five other players who shot 63 in their opening round.
Scoring was 2.01 strokes under par as weather conditions were perfect. While the rough is the longest it has ever been at this tournament (approaching 3 inches), greens and fairways were very receptive and soft. With the wind not forecast to be a factor tomorrow, we should again see perfect scoring conditions. If you are into betting live outrights, Maverick McNealy is my top choice to watch. He sits only four shots back at 5-under and looked real sharp on Thursday. He can get super-hot with the putter and is a great fit for this golf course. He is currently +3700 on FanDuel.
