2022 The American Express Round 4 Betting & Showdown Picks
Lee Hodges and Paul Barjon each made eight birdies and share the lead at 18-under par after three rounds of play at The American Express. Taking advantage of a later tee time, both golfers played some of the most difficult holes on the back nine after the windy conditions had died down, thus taming the typically tougher Stadium Course in the process. Sitting alone in third place is veteran Tom Hoge at 17-under par. While both Hodges and Barjon are each making only their 14th career PGA Tour start, this is Hoge's seventh career appearance at PGA West. Still winless on Tour after 200 career events, Hoge will play for his first career victory on Sunday. Behind Hoge in fourth place at 16-under is rising star Seamus Power, who has five top-15 finishes in his last six events. In total, 70 players have made it through the 7-under cut-line to play in tomorrow's final round on the Stadium Course.
With 14 total golfers sitting with four shots of the lead, including Patrick Cantlay and Will Zalatoris at 14-under, tomorrow looks to be an exciting finish to the end. Only adding to the drama is the world's best player, Jon Rahm, who is only five shots behind. Though Cantlay is only at even par over his last 25 holes, let's not forget the 61 he shot in last year's final round on the Stadium Course, almost overtaking Si Woo Kim to win last year's event. I believe we will see the best of this game return tomorrow, and he is still my favorite to raise the trophy at current odds of +1400. Among some of the other reputable contenders, Power is +600, Hoge is +650, Zalatoris is +2600 and Rahm is +1900.
