Players to Avoid in Every Round of Fantasy Football Drafts

It's August, which means fantasy football draft season is starting to ramp up! I've already done a lot of drafting this offseason in the form of best ball, but there are several players that I find myself avoiding when on the clock in each round. So I took it upon myself in this article to go round-by-round, highlighting one of the players that I’m typically staying away from, even if they do fall a couple of spots past their ADP. To be clear, the players listed below are not the ONLY players I'm avoiding at that given ADP. However, either based on 4for4’s tools and analysis, my own personal preference, or some other factor, they are players unlikely to find a home on my fantasy teams at that draft price.

Round 2: WR Tyreek Hill, Miami Dolphins

In the past several seasons we have seen uber-talented wide receivers change teams and have successful fantasy campaigns in their first season with their new team (Stefon Diggs, DeAndre Hopkins, etc.). But those receivers have had two things that Tyreek Hill doesn't have. First is a lack of receiving competition. Jaylen Waddle, who is coming off of breaking the rookie receptions record, is poised to continue his success in his second year. The second is elite quarterback play. Shocker, but Tua Tagovailoa is not Patrick Mahomes, and he also isn't on the same level as some of the other quarterbacks that have supported top-tier fantasy receivers. I don't expect Tagovailoa to be able to support two receivers being drafted in the first three rounds of drafts.

Round 3: QB Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers

Drafting a quarterback this high is always a risky proposition simply because of the value you are giving up by passing on other positions. But when you also consider the fact that there are other quarterbacks with a similar ceiling to Herbert going 2-3 rounds later, it makes him an obvious fade with this draft capital. On the plus side for Herbert, he enters the season with largely the same supporting cast of offensive playmakers but repeating as a top-two fantasy quarterback is a difficult proposition.
