Week 6 Fantasy Football Sneaky Starts & Sleepers
All but the luckiest fantasy owners at some point need to find the proverbial diamond in the rough—a waiver wire or bench player capable of putting up some points in a pinch. This weekly feature is dedicated to that part of fantasy football. It's not pretty, but it's part of the game.
Note: As of Week 4, all of our aFPA tools (i.e. Hot Spots/Strength of Schedule) are now using only 2022 data.
Quarterbacks
Geno Smith, Seahawks (vs. ARI, 20)
In the span of a month and a half, Smith has graduated from desperation QB3 in two-QB/Superflex leagues, to a QB2 streaming option in those formats, to a confident low-end QB1 play in a matchup like the one he has this week against the Cardinals. Smith has posted 325/2, 320/2, and 268/3 in the last three weeks and has rushed for 61 yards and a score in the same span. The Cardinals have yielded an average of 259/1.6 this season.
Daniel Jones, Giants (vs. BAL, 27)
Jones is quietly the QB14 on the year, which makes him worth a look in a tasty matchup like this week’s tilt with the Ravens. He has averaged 46 yards and 0.4 touchdowns as a runner and seems to have found something with Darius Slayton on their trip to London. The Ravens have given up an average of 305/1.8 this season.
