Week 11 Fantasy Football Start/Sit Candidates: Quarterbacks
Wondering whom to start and sit at quarterback this week? Below are two top-notch start and two sit options at the quarterback position for Week 11 of the 2022 NFL season.
Week 10 Review – half-PPR scoring
Starts
- QB Daniel Jones (New York Giants) vs. Houston Texans – 18.28 fantasy points (QB14)
- QB Trevor Lawrence (Jacksonville Jaguars) @ Kansas City Chiefs– 20.96 fantasy points (QB8)
Sits
- QB Russell Wilson (Denver Broncos) @ Tennessee Titans – 15.24 fantasy points (QB21)
- QB Sam Ehlinger (Indianapolis Colts) @ Las Vegas Raiders – N/A
Quarterback – Starts
Justin Fields (Chicago Bears) @ Atlanta Falcons
Among 55 NFL players with at least 20 rush attempts since Week 6, only Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry is averaging more rushing yards per game (128.8) than Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields’ 111.4, per 4for4’s NFL Player Stats Explorer.
The cannon-armed quarterback should have a field day against the Atlanta Falcons’ 32nd-ranked pass defense (276.5 passing yards allowed per game). Atlanta’s 9.0% explosive pass plays allowed rate is tied for the seventh-highest and their 25.0 points per game allowed are the sixth highest, per 4for4’s NFL Team Stats Explorer.
Atlanta’s 20.3 fantasy points per game allowed to opposing quarterbacks is the fourth-highest average in the league, per 4for4’s Schedule-Adjusted Fantasy Points Allowed.
Daniel Jones (New York Giants) vs. Detroit Lions
Among NFL quarterbacks with at least 100 dropbacks, Daniel Jones’ 0.138 total expected points added (EPA) per play ranks eighth overall. First-year head coach Brian Daboll helps New York pass catchers get open at will and Jones has responded with a 74.4% on-target rate, tied for eighth best.
The gangly Jones owns the position’s second-highest scrambles per game average, 3.8, which helps him average a fourth-ranked 44.4 rushing yards per game. Jones’ 26.9% share of New York’s rush attempts inside the opponent’s 10-yard-line should serve Jones well against the Detroit Lions’ 31st-ranked run defense (162.4 rushing yards per game).
No team in the NFL is allowing more points per game than Detroit’s 29.3 and their 22.9 fantasy points per game allowed to opposing quarterbacks is the second-highest average of the year.
Quarterback – Sits
Jacoby Brissett (Cleveland Browns) @ Buffalo Bills
Cleveland Browns journeyman quarterback Jacoby Brissett has offered fantasy managers a high-floor spot-start option this year but Brissett is a total avoid this week against the Buffalo Bills.
Brissett frequently utilizes an interception-erasing 20.6 rushing yards per game but Cleveland’s quarterback will need far more than that to stay relevant. Buffalo’s 0.15 interceptions per drive rate tied for the league’s top rate.
Buffalo’s 16.8 points allowed per game trail the No. 1-ranked Denver Broncos by a 0.2-point margin.
Despite clearing a moderate 220 passing yards in seven-of-nine games, Brissett has produced two or more total touchdowns in just two-of-seven games.
Buffalo is allowing 11.1 fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks, the second-fewest in the NFL.
Matt Ryan (Indianapolis Colts) vs. Philadelphia Eagles
Quarterback Matt Ryan made his triumphant return as the Indianapolis Colts’ starter under new head coach Jeff Saturday last week, turning the opportunity into 22.68 fantasy points, the fifth most on the week.
Ryan’s 15 minutes of fame ends this week though, as Indianapolis is playing host to the Philadelphia Eagles’ No. 2-ranked pass defense (176.4 passing yards allowed per game). Philadelphia’s 6.5% explosive pass plays allowed rate is tied for No. 4 in the NFL and their top-12 21.1% quarterback pressure rate should keep Ryan’s head swiveling.
Philadelphia’s league-leading 0.23 turnovers per drive generated are keyed by their 0.15 interceptions per drive, similarly tied for No. 1 in the NFL.
Among 38 quarterbacks with 100 dropbacks this year, Ryan’s 2.8% interception rate is tied for 25th and his 7.0% sack rate is 24th.
Philadelphia is the No. 1 defense versus opposing quarterbacks with 9.6 fantasy points allowed per game.
