Fantasy Football Defense Streaming Week 9: Plug Your Nose and Play the Matchups

We’ve all been there. You’re sitting in your draft, and someone reaches for a defense way too early. Defenses are notoriously tricky to project year-over-year. Some of the best fantasy defenses of the last decade have turned in performances where they benefited from turnover luck one year and ran dry the next. When drafting, I treat the D/ST spot on my roster as a revolving door, and I’m specifically drafting for Week 1 or the first few weeks of the season.

As we work our way through the season, this article will serve as a place to identify streaming options. The only criterion is that the teams we discuss are rostered in less than 40% of leagues on Yahoo or ESPN.

Week 8 Recap

Our top pick in Week 8 was Seattle. They filled up the stat sheet en route to a D/ST7 finish. The Seahawks tallied three sacks and two interceptions, and added a fumble recovery for good measure. It could’ve been an even bigger day as they had 10 QB Hits. The Giants finished at D/ST4 with 12 points thanks to four sacks and two fumble recoveries of their own. The Texans got six sacks of their own but only managed a D/ST16 finish. A solid showing overall, bringing our overall ranking up into the top 12 from our weekly top picks.
