By Phillip B. Wilson:
I did chat with Colts WR Austin Collie on Wednesday. Different player, same story. We all thought the worst when we heard Collie got hurt against Washington before the bye and needed surgery on his right hand to re-attach a ligament in his thumb. Well, he’s going to be out for a while, for sure.
Guess not.
Before he practiced Wednesday on a limited basis, and that included catching a lot of footballs with a bandage on his right hand, Collie chatted with reporters in the final minutes of locker-room interview time. He had the look of determination in his eyes.
I asked if we should be optimistic that he might be back at practice so soon after his surgery.
“You can be optimistic,” he said. “I joke around a little bit by saying it’s on an hour-to-hour basis. It depends on how I feel, but the thumb is definitely making very good progress.”
