Titans QBs: Young could be done, Collins can't help

Kerry Collins would love to be able to step in and bail the Titans out of their quarterback crisis.

Right now, however, he’s still in no position to do so.

Collins is still recovering from a calf injury he suffered against Miami on November 14. He’s expected to miss a few more weeks at a time when the team is handing the job over to rookie Rusty Smith.

Vince Young is out not only because of a thumb injury that may require surgery, but because he had a confrontation with Coach Jeff Fisher after Sunday’s loss to the Redskins. His season – and career – could be over in Tennessee.

“I’ll do everything I can,’’ Collins said of his availability. “We’ll see. I’ve mad a lot of progress up to this point and hopefully I’ll continue to make progress. I’m doing everything I can to get back out there.’’

Collins worked on the sideline with Smith on Sunday when he relieved Young in the third quarter, relaying information from the press box in conversations with quarterbacks coach Dowell Loggains.

Smith is expected to start on Sunday at Houston.

Fantasy Impact:

Smith at least gets to face one of the more porous secondaries in the league in the Texans, but it's still not a great idea to rush out, pick him up and throw him in your lineup.
