Four days before Dave Rayner kicked game-tying and game-winning field goals to snap the Lions' NFL-record 26-game road losing streak, the Lions trotted out his potential replacement.
But after watching veteran kicker Kris Brown work out last Wednesday, the Lions decided to stick with Rayner for the balance of the year.
Rayner, who has played six games as an injury replacement for Jason Hanson, booted field goals of 41, 28 and 34 yards last Sunday against the Buccaneers. The 28-yarder came as time expired in regulation, and the 34-yard proved to be the game-winner on the first possession of overtime.
