Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew will need arthroscopic knee surgery — or a knee scope — for maintenance purposes to repair a meniscus he injured in the preseason.

The meniscus is the cartilage that cushions the space between the bones in the knee. Jones-Drew does not have ligament damage.

Jones-Drew played on the injury through the first 14 games of the season, running for 1,324 yards in that time. After 14 games, that total ranked him second in the NFL behind Houston's Arian Foster.
