The New England Patriots defensive line depth has taken another blow. This time, it involves defensive end Ron Brace.
The second-year end from Boston College has likely played his last down this season. Battling an elbow injury from Sunday’s win over Buffalo, Brace will almost certainly be placed on injured reserve on Monday.
The reason the move will come on Monday is because linebacker Brandon Spikes is set to conclude his four-game suspension after the Patriots play the Dolphins tomorrow. Spikes is on an exempt list, which means he does not count toward the 53-man roster limit. So, Spikes goes back on the roster on Monday and Brace goes on IR.
This ends a promising season for the 2009 2nd round pick, one that saw him start several games and emerge as a potential answer at defensive end. He made 23 tackles this season.
