Will Carson Palmer be back with the Bengals? Barring a major change in heart, which looks unlikely to happen, one of Lewis’ major priorities will be finding complementary parts for Palmer.
“It’s important to recapture the spirit of our football team,” Lewis said. “I told him (Palmer) yesterday privately that it’s important to me that I will help him be the player that I know he is and I believe in him and he’s important to me.”
How about Cedric Benson? That all depends on what changes are made on offense. If Bratkowski is back, Benson will not return after a frustrating season. Benson has not hid his feelings about the direction of the offense this past season.
“There is a time for change and I think now is a pretty good time,” Benson said. “We found ourselves being very successful a year ago and kind of didn’t master the thing going into this year that made us successful the previous year. Somebody missed that somewhere.”
