The Steelers could have a major part of their defense back on Sunday if defensive end Aaron Smith progresses during practice this week. Smith, a one-time Pro Bowler, has not practiced since tearing his triceps Oct. 24 in Miami. Tomlin said Smith will practice this week and if he plays, it will likely be on a limited basis.

“A snap count is probably going to be a part of that discussion if he is deemed well enough to go,” Tomlin said. “The guys that have been given the opportunity to replace him, like Ziggy Hood, have more than met the standard. They deserve to continue to play. But it would be nice to add that tool to the toolbox if we have the opportunity to do so on Sunday.”
