Panthers linebacker Dan Connor took a few strides Monday, which could signify a big step forward. Connor, who landed on injured reserve in November with a hip injury, said he ran for the first time Monday since surgery.

The linebacker said he suffered a bone chip in his hip joint during the Oct. 31 game at St. Louis, calling it a "freak injury." He said he thought it was a hamstring strain at first, and played the following week against New Orleans but was unable to finish.

It's similar to his 2008 ACL tear, which he suffered running down a kickoff, only to continue playing the same game. Connor said his experience coming back from that one has made this process quicker, and that he was well ahead of pace for a return.
