New Orleans Saints Coach Sean Payton said running back Darren Sproles' role will be similar to the one Reggie Bush played for the past five seasons but didn't go into much detail. With his versatility and elusiveness, though, Sproles brings a Bush-like skill set to a backfield loaded with talent - Pierre Thomas, Chris Ivory, Lynell Hamilton and eventually Mark Ingram.
Even if Sproles doesn't gain a yard in the regular offense, he should at least inject life into the Saints' tepid return game. Payton is intent on improving those units, and they'll be a point of emphasis during training camp. The addition of Sproles, who's scored touchdowns twice on punt and kickoff returns, should go a long way toward that goal.
If Sproles is the new Bush, he'll have some value in PPR and return yardage leagues. Overall, Ingram will probably have the most to offer fantasy owners, but the New Orleans backfield is overcrowded to say the least.
