Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett has proclaimed linebacker Keith Brooking and running backs Tashard Choice and DeMarco Murray as "day-by-day" with their injuries.
Choice strained a calf muscle on the first day of camp and could miss 2-4 weeks. Murray arrived in camp with a hamstring injury and is on the non-football injury list, while Brooking strained his hamstring while returning an interception in Friday’s practice. They could miss up to two weeks as well.
With Choice and Murray missing time, Lonyae Miller, who was the only tailback at the player-run practices in May, and rookie free agent Phillip Tanner have received more action. Miller was a late-season call up from the practice squad last year but did not get a carry.
With Choice and Murray out, the grip Felix Jones has on being the lead back in the Dallas backfield grows stronger.
