Contra Costa Times: Quarterback Jamarcus Russell hasn't been out
of a protective boot since injuring his right ankle last Thursday
and conceivably could miss his second game of the season when the
Raiders host the New England Patriots. "I'm doing treatment. I
guess it's coming. It's nothing you want to rush," Russell said.
I'll go out there and see what I can do in practice." X-rays at
Qualcomm Stadium were negative, and Russell said an MRI showed "a
lot of bruising." Raiders coach Tom Cable was decided more
optimistic, saying Russell would be limited at practice and
essentially brushing off the possibility that Andrew Walter could
be the starter. "No, he'll practice," Cable said. "He'll be ready
to go."
