San Diego Union Tribune's Kevin Acee recently answered a question on the Chargers RB situation. Here's how it went down:
Q: Is there any chance Mike Tolbert gets the starting job due to Ryan Mathews "soreness" issues in camp.
A: The plan is for Ryan Mathews to be the featured back ... The Chargers would like to have more rushes this season, for sure. So Tolbert will get his carries.
Mathews has an ADP of the early fourth and is rated 17th on our list. He seems to be a popular name so far early on, so there's a chance someone in your league takes him before that. But like the question indicates, Mathews always seems to have something wrong with him. If you're high on Mathews, it would once again be a wise choice to have Tolbert on your roster as well. We rank Tolbert 24th with an ADP of the 11th round, but again, you may have to go a round before that.
