As expected, the Philadelphia Eagles placed wide receiver Steve Smith on the Physically Unable to Perform List.
Signed to a one-year contract on Wednesday, Smith reported to training camp at Lehigh University and is participating in conditioning drills with the rest of the Eagles' injured players on Saturday. Smith, who is recovering from December microfracture knee surgery, is wearing the No. 19.
The Eagles don't anticipate Smith remaining on the PUP list when the regular season starts.
Also in attendance was defensive tackle Mike Patterson, who was engaging in some drills with the injured players. Patterson, of course, suffered a seizure ten days ago. The Eagles announced a day afterward that he had an arteriovenous malformation near his brain, but Patterson's agent, J.R. Rickert, said yesterday that his client could be nearing a return.
Saturday also marked the return of wide receiver DeSean Jackson to practice. As an 11-day holdout, he reported to camp on Monday, but hasn't been able to fully practice with the team until now. Jackson was greeted warmly by fans when he walked out onto the practice fields.
