The Cardinals are relying on players developed from within to play behind Larry Fitzgerald. Right now, the order on the depth chart is Andre Roberts, Early Doucet and Stephen Williams.
Coach Ken Whisenhunt gets a bit irked when the subject comes up. He said that the whole idea for building a team is developing the players you already have, just as the Cardinals did with Breaston — a fifth-round draft pick in 2007.
"Everybody wants to beat on the drum about a second receiver," Whisenhunt said on Tuesday, "but I think we've got some receivers that we'd like to see what they can do."
Roberts is a speedy player drafted in the third round out of The Citadel a year ago. Doucet is a tough, physical player who plays in the slot, like Anquan Boldin did, and who has been plagued by injuries since his selection in the third round out of LSU in 2008. Williams used a strong training camp to make the team last season as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Akron.
