Respect for Miami Dolphins quarterback Chad Henne from his peers took another step forward this week when his Dolphin teammates voted him one of the season's four team captains.
Tackle Jake Long, linebacker Karlos Dansby and safety Yeremiah Bell, all of whom also served as team captains last year, retained the honor.
"I've been saying all along, he's a leader on our offense," Long said. "He deserves it."
Bell said that his admiration for Henne, who took criticism from receiver Brandon Marshall and other teammates toward the end of last season, increased this past offseason when Henne ran practices during the lockout.
"Even I looked up to Chad, how he brought the offensive guys together and taught them the playbook," he said.
It's a good sign for Henne (and Brandon Marshall's value) that his teammates are finding reasons to have faith in him, but fantasy owners don't need to worry about making Henne the captain of their team. If he overachieves early in the season, he'll be worth a look in free agency.
