After Jamaal Charles exited Sunday’s game, veteran Thomas Jones was the runner who saw the biggest increase in carries. After hearing his number called only twice in the season opener, Jones led the Chiefs with 12 rushing attempts in Detroit.

Physically, Jones is the best candidate for an increase in workload. He hasn’t missed a game since 2005 and rarely fumbles the football. With turnovers plaguing the Chiefs, ball security is nothing to overlook.

Jones was a Pro Bowler as recently as 2009 and won the AFC rushing title as the N.Y. Jets’ workhorse in 2008.

Fantasy Impact:

Does Jones have any gas left in the tank? He's averaging 3.1 ypc on the season, but most of his carries came against the Lions and they are much improved defensively. He averaged 3.7 ypc in 2010, but gained just 338 yards on 109 carries (for 3.1 ypc) in the final eight games of the season, including the playoffs. We envision a committee that includes Dexter McCluster (who has already been more involved this season) and Le'Ron McClain.
