Cardinals running back Beanie Wells insisted Monday that it was a "smart" decision to sit out Sunday's game against the Seattle Seahawks.

The hamstring pull Wells suffered Thursday in practice was enough, he said, to play it safe and not risk losing more time, especially considering the good start he had in the season's first two weeks.

"It was smart," he said. "We didn't want it to linger. We came to an agreement, collectively, and we thought it was just smart to sit this one out. We didn't want it to go weeks and weeks down the line. "You know how hamstrings are."

"You've got to let it heal," he said Monday, adding that it's nothing like a sprained ankle. "You've got to let that muscle get back feeling right, or else it would be hell getting back."

"I'm 100 percent sure," he said, "that I'm going to play this week."
