Jets HC Rex Ryan designated Santonio Holmes and Brandon Moore as game captains Monday night and sent them out to midfield for the coin toss.
The Holmes-Moore feud, the headline event in three weeks of turmoil that has threatened to rip apart the Jets locker room and their season, forced Ryan to meet with the players together last week. Then, in a transparent attempt to foster unity, he had them walk out together before the 24-6 victory over the Dolphins that ended the Jets' three-game losing streak.
Ryan insists the problem was over. "It's unfortunate that it happened, that's the way it goes," he said. "We're chasing a much bigger thing than that.
"The thing about our team and our franchise, we're not always lined up, but we're chasing the same thing. Sometimes, like in any family, you have disagreements. We just resolve things and move forward."
