quarterback Carson Palmer to the Raiders now official. Compensation is expected to be a 1 in 2012 and a conditional 1 in 2013.
Oakland and Cincinnati spent much of Monday discussing the deal to the point early Monday night when a select few people realized it could happen. People involved in the deal's discussions thought it could happen, but they also recognized how delicate the talks were.
This is a relatively good situation for Palmer to land in, with lots of young talent around him, but don't expect a lot of deep balls to the Raiders young receivers. Palmer comes in as a low end QB2, but it's really a wait and see situation as we're not sure what type of shape Palmer is in, and coming to a new team mid-season is always a challenge.
We certainly wouldn't break the bank to acquire Palmer, but the rest of season schedule is relatively soft. He is better news for Raiders players than Kyle Boller would have been. Darren McFadden remains a must start, top-5 RB.
