Vikings Wide receiver Percy Harvin dismisses his fourth-quarter performance against Carolina on Oct. 30 as "just a playmaker" making plays, nothing more.
Harvin is leaving out the part where he shrugged off grimacing pain from a rib injury to catch two passes for first downs on the final drive - including an open-field spin move on cornerback Chris Gamble on third down - to help the Vikings win 24-21.
At one point, Harvin was bending over in pain on the sideline between plays.
"People come up with all kinds of stories that I was trying ... I was just trying to play football and do what I do," Harvin said. "My ribs were hurting but not enough to keep me out of the game. So coach called on my number, and I answered it."
The rib pain subsided over the bye week, which is good news for the Vikings.
