Texans rookie quarterback TJ Yates will be a heartbeat from seeing his first NFL action. With Matt Schaub injured, Yates moves into the backup role behind Matt Leinart.
“He’s progressed a great deal,” coach Gary Kubiak said about Yates. “I think he’s going to be a player in this league. He’s going to be called upon quickly to get ready to play.
“I’ve been very impressed with how he practices. He’ll get pressed a little bit here to get ready to play, and I expect him to step up and handle his situation.”
