Michael Bush is nearing the end of a one-year, $2.6 million contract with the Raiders and will be a free agent at the end of this season but said he hopes to stay with the Raiders.
“That’s something I will tackle later on down the road,” he said. “If it’s right, I will still be here. I like Oakland — the weather is great, so we’ll see where we’re at at the end of the year.”
Bob Redman, Bush’s coach at Male, said he thinks Bush is in a very “advantageous position.”
“He’s having a remarkable year, and many teams will be looking for a solid back,” Redman said. “Michael can be an every-down back. He has a great ability to run inside; he also can run on the outside. He’s also able to catch the ball very well.”
Pending the return of a healthy Darren McFadden, Bush is likely to sign elsewhere in 2012 for more money, just like Michael Turner when he fled San Diego for Atlanta in 2008.
