Tribune Star: Colts rookie RB Chad Simpson, who incurred a
sprained right ankle while returning a kickoff against the
Bengals, returned for Friday's workout and appears intent on
playing in the Detroit game although he is also listed as
questionable. If he can go against the Lions, Simpson would split
time with Dominic Rhodes and let recently signed running back
Najeh Davenport take over the kickoff return duties. "We've got a
new twist on the Chad Simpson situation. Chad is going to try to
go [Friday and Saturday] and thinks he may be able to play," the
Colts coach said. "That's another reason if we have any questions
with Joe, we may be able to hold him down [for a game]. We're
going to take a look at Najeh and Chad and see how they do [in
practice]." Simpson doesn't think his ankle will be a problem on
Sunday.
