Rich Cimini writes in his column (The Jets Stream)... I think Rex Ryan made it abundantly clear, without really saying so, that his plan is to make Sanchez the opening-day starter. That's hardly a revelation, considering his draft status, but it's noteworthy that Ryan admitted he has an idea of how he expects the QB competition to play out. Immediately after the draft, I mentioned in a couple of places, like SNY's " Jets Nation," that Clemens is the favorite to be the opening-day starter. After being around minicamp, watching Sanchez and listening to Jets people, I'd like to amend that statement. Clemens has to be significantly better than Sanchez to win the job. If it's even, or if it's close, the only thing Clemens will get is a headset and a clipboard. The competition will kick into gear June 9-11, the full-squad minicamp. Let's see if Mr. Sanchez has the same success on those 20-yard outs when he's throwing against Revis and Lito Sheppard as opposed to Joe Tryout from Anonymous State.
