Who's Bengals' No. 2 RB?

One Bengals position battle will be for the role of primary backup running back behind Cedric Benson.

When the team’s mandatory minicamp opened June 18, the Bengals had seven halfbacks on their roster: Benson, Dede Dorsey, Bernard Scott, Marlon Lucky, Kenny Watson, James Johnson and Brian Leonard.

“It is a lot of guys and a lot of competition,” Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said between practices on the first day of minicamp. “It’s going to be exciting to see how it all shakes out.”

It is almost certain that Benson will be the Bengals’ starting running back heading into his first full season with the team. Last year, Benson joined the Bengals four weeks into the regular season and was named the starter over Chris Perry after Week 6.

Benson finished the season with 747 yards and two touchdowns on 214 carries. He averaged 3.5 yards per carry.
