Michael Vick is getting physically prepared to play football again, with the help of his high school coach Tommy Reamon. During home confinement, Vick's conditioning work has been limited by space, but he's been able to work extensively on agility drills. Vick also has been throwing footballs — for no longer than 20 or 30 yards because of the confined space in the backyard — with Reamon's son, Tommy, Jr., a quarterback entering his freshman year at Old Dominion.
"They're messing around with (throwing) accuracy," Reamon says, mindful of the knock on Vick throughout his NFL career. "It's a small window where he can throw, but that's all he can do. Naturally, it's not what Brett Favre is out there doing. But after (Monday), he will be non-stop. He'll be going three times a day."
Reamon scoffs at suggestions that Vick — whose unique style was accented by exceptional speed that made him perhaps the most dangerous running quarterback in NFL history — will have trouble recapturing his potency after a long layoff.
"He's ready to pick up where he left off," Reamon says.
