It's official. Rookie Brandon Weeden is the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns.
Coach Pat Shurmur made the announcement here today following practice.
Weeden, the Browns second selection in the first round of April's draft, will make his first start on Friday when the Browns visit the Detroit Lions for their first preseason game.
We rank Weeden just 26th, so he likely won't get drafted in standard leagues as he's just QB3 material. Weeden has some options to work with, but for the most part the WRs on the Browns are unproven, so this will be a growing process for everyone. Greg Little and Josh Gordon should be the starters at WR, but the team has already said the offense will go through rookie RB Trent Richardson.
