Don’t count on seeing Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes on the field anytime soon.
Holmes, who injured his ribs in Saturday’s intrasquad scrimmage, said he will be careful about returning too soon. He has not practiced since the injury.
Holmes said he suffered broken ribs in 2008 with the Steelers and this was related to that injury. He said he had some damage to the cartilage around the ribs and they may have “separated.” Holmes has not been ruled out of Friday’s game with the Bengals, but it seems highly unlikely he will play. He said he can’t move laterally.
This news will only serve to depress Holmes's ADP even further. It's not often that a WR1 with his talent is available in the 10th or 11th round. Sure, he has some attitude issues, but someone has to catch the ball for the Jets.
