Brandon LaFell preparing for “a big role”

Panthers WR Brandon LaFell believes he’s ready to take another step in his development.

The former LSU standout averaged 17 yards a catch in 2011, up from 12.3 yards per reception the previous year. His 613 receiving yards were second only to Smith on the team.

But LaFell believes he’s capable of more.

“I feel like every year I go into is my year, and definitely this year,” LaFell said. “It’s my third year. These guys are giving me a big role. … I feel like Smitty’s going to do his thing. And if I can give our offense another reliable weapon on the other side, that’ll help out this whole team.”

Fantasy Impact:

We have been relatively high on LaFell this summer, ranking him in the low 40s all off-season. His ADP has crept from the 13th round into the 11th round, so be prepared to use that type of a pick on draft day. He still a good value at that level. His FP/T was 1.42 in 2011, which ranked #16 out of the 119 WRs who saw at least 30 targets. There's a lot of upside here.
